ferraus invert-phase

Invert polarity

Synopsis

ferraus invert-phase <input> [options] [-o <output>]

What it does

Multiplies the signal by -1 (all channels, or only --channel left/right). Fixes a mic wired out of polarity or tests phase cancellation.

This command is also an fx stage and a pipeline op: ferraus fx in.wav -o out.wav --fx "invert-phase:key=value".

Examples

Flip the polarity of a bottom-snare mic

ferraus invert-phase snare_bottom.wav -o flipped.wav

Invert only the right channel

ferraus invert-phase stereo.wav --channel right -o r_flipped.wav

Flip a second microphone that cancels the first, and print the JSON result

ferraus invert-phase mic2.wav --json -o mic2_flipped.wav

Invert one side of a stereo ambience for an out-of-phase, extra-wide effect (it cancels in mono)

ferraus invert-phase ambience.wav --channel left -o ambience_wide.wav
