ferraus phaser

Phaser

Synopsis

ferraus phaser <input> [options] [-o <output>]

What it does

A chain of swept all-pass filters mixed with the dry signal creates moving notches.

This command is also an fx stage and a pipeline op: ferraus fx in.wav -o out.wav --fx "phaser:key=value".

Examples

Default phaser

ferraus phaser keys.wav -o keys_phase.wav

Deep eight-stage sweep

ferraus phaser gtr.wav --stages 8 --rate 0.2Hz --feedback 60% -o deep.wav

Gentle two-stage phasing on a vocal

ferraus phaser vox.wav --stages 2 --depth 40% --mix 30% -o vox_phase.wav

A very slow, resonant twelve-stage sweep across a long pad

ferraus phaser pad.wav --rate 0.05Hz --stages 12 --feedback 70% -o pad_sweep.wav

Common mistakes

  • Forgetting that outputs are never overwritten: pass --overwrite or a new -o path when re-running.
  • Percentages accept 80% or the fraction 0.8; a bare 80 means 80x, not 80%.
