ferraus media info
Container and stream details as JSON (ffprobe -show_format -show_streams)
Synopsis
ferraus media info <input> [options] [-o <output>]
What it does
Runs ffprobe with -show_format -show_streams -show_chapters and returns its JSON, plus a normalized inventory of streams. Without FFmpeg, audio-capable containers are described natively (Symphonia) with a warning.
Examples
Every stream, chapter, and container field as JSON
ferraus media info movie.mkv --json
Format, duration, bitrate, and tags of an audio file
ferraus media info podcast.m4a
Only the normalized stream inventory
ferraus media info lecture.mp4 --json | jq .result.inventory
Global options
Every command also accepts the global options (-o, --json, --dry-run, --overwrite, --progress, ...). See Global options.
