ferraus sounds alias

Set what an instrument name resolves to

Synopsis

ferraus sounds alias <assignment> [options]

What it does

Writes [aliases] in <config>/sounds/aliases.toml so --instrument piano or --to piano picks the sound you chose. The target is an installed sound id, a registry id, or an explicit source such as plugin:"Surge XT" or sf2:/path/gm.sf2. With no arguments, lists the aliases.

Examples

Make 'piano' mean the Salamander Grand Piano

ferraus sounds alias piano=salamander-grand-piano

Point two names at explicit sources

ferraus sounds alias strings=sfz:/libs/vsco/Strings.sfz pad='plugin:"Surge XT"'

Delete two aliases so the names resolve to their defaults again

ferraus sounds alias --remove piano,pad
